Bio

Yevgeny Faniuk currently holds the position of acting associate principal flute with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra under the direction of maestro Manfred Honeck. In recent seasons, Yevgeny performed extensively with the Chicago Symphony and the Metropolitan Opera orchestras and was holding a principal position with the Princeton Symphony and the Glimmerglass Festival orchestras. In the past Yevgeny performed with such renowned ensembles as the Lyric Opera of Chicago, the New York City Ballet, the American Symphony and the Israel Philharmonic orchestras.

Yevgeny has been a prize winner of numerous competitions, including the Flute Talk Competition and the New York Flute Club Competition in the US. In Israel Yevgeny has received the first prize at the 1st Haifa International Flute Competition, won the prestigious Rubin Academy of Music Competition in Tel Aviv and received a top prize in the Jerusalem Young Artist Competitions, as well as honorable mention at Paul Ben Haim Israeli Music Competition.

As a chamber musician Yevgeny took part in the Cooperstown Chamber Music Festival in New York and the Yellow Barn Music Festival in Vermont, played on the national tour with the Windscape Woodwind Quintet and performed alongside musicians of the Metropolitan Opera with the MET chamber ensemble.

Yevgeny took part in the Spoleto and Artosphere festivals in the US and was a member of the prestigious Verbier Festival’s symphony and chamber orchestras in Switzerland.

Yevgeny has been featured on numerous highly acclaimed recordings, including Mozart’s piano concertos with David Greilsammer leading the Suedama Ensemble, the album “My Mexican Soul” which celebrates music by Mexican composers written in the past 200 years, and “Finding Home’ with Philip Mann conducting Ensemble Bravura released on Sony Classical.

A native of Ukraine, Yevgeny immigrated to Israel in the early 90’s where he attended Thelma Yelin High School for the Arts and Rubin Academy of Music in Tel Aviv University. Yevgeny moved to the U.S. to pursue degrees from Manhattan School of Music and ÌÇÐÄVlogÊÓƵ. His teachers include Michael Weintraub, Yossi Arnheim, Linda Chesis and Jeanne Baxtresser.
