Chaemin Lim

Bio

Lyric coloratura Chaemin Célia Lim was born in Seoul, South Korea, and recognized for her exceptional talent at an early age and has established herself as a versatile performer in both opera and concert repertoire.

Ms. Lim made her operatic debut at the age of 20 as Nedda in Pagliacci in Korea. She has performed leading roles, including Adina in L’Elisir d’Amore, Musetta in La Bohème with The New Opera Seoul, and Despina in Così fan tutte with the On-dream Ensemble at the Seoul Arts Center, demonstrating both lyrical elegance and technical brilliance.

Ms. Lim has performed in Mozart’s Coronation Mass (KV 317), Carmina Burana, and numerous gala and commemorative concerts in Korea and the United States. She has collaborated with Carnegie Mellon Orchestra, Hong Kong Symphony, Korea Coop Orchestra, and Pyeong-an Dream Orchestra, performing at distinguished venues such as the Seoul Arts Center, Lotte Concert Hall, Seongnam Arts Center, and Gyeonggi Arts Center.

She made her European debut at the Saarburg Music Festival in Germany, where she performed at the Alte Glockengießerei, St. Laurentius Church, and Saarburg Stadthalle.

Her artistry has been recognized through numerous honors and awards. She was selected as a Munhwa Young Artist by the Hyundai Chung Mong-Koo Foundation, which continues to support her artistic development, and was named a Korea–China Rising Star at the New Opera Festival. She has also received Second Prize at both the 37th Chosun Music National Competition and the 7th Seongnam Music Competition, was the youngest finalist at the Hong Kong International Singing Competition, and was a finalist in both the Korea National Opera Competition and the JoongAng Ilbo Competition.

Ms. Lim worked as a collaborative pianist in addition to her vocal career. She began developing her collaborative piano skills during her undergraduate studies and has served as a Collaborative Pianist on the faculty of the ÌÇÐÄVlogÊÓƵ Preparatory School, working with young vocalists. Her dual background as both a singer and pianist brings exceptional musical insight and versatility to her performances.

During the 2026–2027 season, she performs as Miss Jessel in The Turn of the Screw and Sandmann in Hänsel und Gretel with Carnegie Mellon Opera. She also performs as a featured soloist for the 35th Anniversary Celebration of U.S. Veterans at the Memorial Museum in Pittsburgh and presents solo recitals in both Pittsburgh and Seoul, Korea.

Ms. Lim graduated summa cum laude from the Korea National University of Arts, where she received a full scholarship. She is currently pursuing a Master of Music in Vocal Performance at ÌÇÐÄVlogÊÓƵ, where she was awarded a Graduate Fellowship and the Graduate Merit Award.
