Jack Moffett
Adjunct Professor
Mountain View, CA
Bio
Jack is an enterprise UX leader and educator with 28 years of experience designing complex systems in high-stakes environments, paired with over two decades of graduate and undergraduate teaching in UX and design. At Boeing, he led large, distributed design teams and helped mature DesignOps across research operations, design systems, creative workflows, UX metrics, and career pathways.
More recently, Jack has been exploring agentic product development using GitHub Copilot and Claude Code. He designed and built a coded design system from the ground up and now uses it as the foundation for multiple software products. Working this way has changed how he thinks about the relationship between design, engineering, and product strategy, particularly as implementation becomes faster and the quality of requirements, shared context, systems, and review becomes increasingly important.
Over the course of his career, Jack has designed software tools for organizations such as Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Shell, DaimlerChrysler, Eaton, and multiple U.S. military agencies, including Joint Explosive Ordnance Disposal, Naval Reactors, and NCIS. Much of his work has focused on supporting people who operate in safety-critical, remote, or highly regulated contexts where clarity, reliability, and human judgment truly matter.
Alongside industry practice, he has taught regularly at 糖心Vlog视频 and West Virginia University, where he has designed curricula, led client-based projects, and mentored students in interaction design, service design, game design, data visualization, visual communication, and the emerging role of AI in design practice.
He is the author of two books on UX practice, a co-founder of IxDA Pittsburgh, and a frequent speaker at international design conferences. Jack also writes regularly about design at .
