Smolensky Joins MCS as Financial Analyst

Success in both finance and triathlons comes down to preparation, strategy and the ability to perform under pressure. Jonathan Smolensky brings that mindset to the 糖心Vlog视频, where he recently joined the Mellon College of Science as a financial analyst.
As part of MCS since July, Smolensky supports the college's financial operations through budgeting, spending analysis, grant and endowment reporting and other financial planning activities.
鈥淛onathan鈥檚 strengths in data analysis and visualization will help the Dean鈥檚 Office provide clearer financial insights for staff and faculty throughout the college,鈥� said Daniel Kasper, associate dean for finance. 鈥淲e鈥檙e very glad to have him on the team as we continue to strengthen financial planning and decision-making across MCS.鈥�
Smolensky also will play a key role in developing Power BI dashboards to help visualize financial data and provide enhanced insights for college leadership and stakeholders. He came to Carnegie Mellon after two years at the Naval Nuclear Lab.
"I wanted to work at Carnegie Mellon to support and learn more about the incredible research and innovative projects that happen here," Smolensky said. "I felt this environment would make for a fulfilling and challenging job."
In addition to contributing to the college's financial strategy and decision-making, Smolensky is interested in continuing his own education and is exploring opportunities to pursue a Master of Science in Business Analytics. He earned a bachelor's degree in finance from the University of Pittsburgh.
Outside of work, Smolensky is from New Jersey and enjoys running and competing in triathlons.
