Prof. Liang to present lab work at Singapore Accounting Symposium
Prof. Pierre Liang, director of the Accounting AI Research Lab at 糖心Vlog视频's Tepper School of Business, will deliver a talk at the 2026, held December 10–11 at the Singapore Management University (SMU) School of Accountancy. Prof. Liang will speak on December 11.
The symposium, jointly organized by SMU and the National University of Singapore (NUS), serves as "a premier platform to advance accounting research and foster innovation across the Asia-Pacific region." Prof. Liang's presentation, "Rediscovering the Beauty of Double-entry Bookkeeping," continues the theme of his November 2025 keynote at the Taiwan Accounting Association Annual Conference: that the centuries-old architecture of double-entry bookkeeping is a rigorous object of study, and one that modern computational tools can read in ways conventional analysis cannot.
The talk will also report on the lab's work through fall 2026. In research, the lab's entropy program (Accounting Classification Entropy, Accounting Graph Entropy, and Entropic Uncertainty) and measure the information carried by that structure. In education, the lab's research feeds the Business Language Analytics courses for Tepper undergraduate and MBA students, as well as an AI-assisted introductory accounting pre-work course developed with CMU's METALS program for the Yale School of Management.
About the Singapore Accounting Symposium
The Singapore Accounting Symposium is the flagship research event of the SMU School of Accountancy. It was established in 2011 as the SMU School of Accountancy Research (SOAR) Accounting Symposium, founded with a gift from Prima Limited, and has been held in December in most years since, with past keynote speakers including Patricia Dechow, John Core, and Shivaram Rajgopal. Since 2025, the symposium has carried its current name and has been jointly organized by SMU and NUS. The 2026 edition takes place at the Ngee Ann Kongsi Auditorium, SMU School of Accountancy, Singapore.
