Videoconference-Integrated Teaching Spaces

Spaces with integrated videoconferencing use the room's built-in system, accessed via a touch panel, to initiate a meeting for remote participants. This document provides instructions for using the classroom technology to support both in-person and remote participants.

Videoconference-integrated spaces are equipped with wall-mounted or ceiling-mounted cameras similar to the model pictured here.

Videoconference-integrated spaces are equipped with ceiling-mounted microphones, which can be fitted to a ceiling tile (pictured) or bar-style, hung from an aircraft cable.

Touch Panel

The existing touch panel and room projectors control what is presented in the classroom and to remote videoconference participants. 

Get Connected

Connect your laptop and share your screen with the room 

  1. Do one of the following:
    • Wired - Connect the HDMI or USB-C cable (if available) to your laptop and tap Laptop on the touch panel.
    • Wireless - Tap Wireless Presentation on the touch panel and follow the on-screen steps to connect.
  2. Under Display Controls, tap Left-, Right- or Both- to choose a display location.

I'm set up; I want to...

  1. Place the materials under the document camera.
  2. Tap Document Camera on the touch panel. The document camera will use the room projector to display images.

Note: Document Camera controls (zoom, brightness, etc.) may be located on the document camera itself or on the touch panel (for ceiling-mounted document cameras).

Zoom Capabilities

If you have remote participants, start the Zoom meeting for them. 

Note: You should start the meeting on the touch panel, NOT your laptop. Joining the meeting on your laptop (in addition to the touch panel) is necessary only if you want to record it or need access to other features, such as chat or breakout rooms.

  1. Under Actions on the touch panel, tap Zoom.
  2. Enter the Meeting ID (and passcode if required). Or, use your personal meeting ID.
  3. Tap Join Meeting.
  4. Under Videoconference Controls, tap Presentation and then tap Laptop. Your screen will be shared with remote students.
    Note: If you see a warning message when attempting to share your screen, you must enable sharing.
  5. Share one of the following:
    • Camera - Tap Camera and adjust the camera controls.
    • Device - Tap Presentation and one of the following: Laptop, Document Camera, or Desktop.

TIP! As the meeting host, you can adjust Zoom settings for security, manage participants, monitor the chat, set participant controls, and more. 

Note: If you leave the Videoconference Controls screen (by clicking Home), you’ll be disconnected from the videoconference.

  1. Under Actions on the touch panel, tap Videoconference.
  2. Under Videoconference Controls:
    • Select the camera to adjust, then use the Pan/Tilt or Zoom buttons to adjust the camera view of the room.
    • Use the slider to adjust the Video Conference Volume. 

Before you begin, make sure: 

  • Your iOS device (iPad or iPhone) has the latest version of Zoom installed and configured.
  • Your laptop AND iOS device are on the same wireless network ( is the preferred option).

Follow the steps below to share:

  1. Tap Laptop under Device on the touch panel. 
  2. From the Zoom meeting on your laptop, click Share.
  3. Select iPhone/iPad and then click Share.
    Note: Do not share the computer's audio to avoid feedback.
  4. Follow the onscreen instructions to connect your iOS device.

You can also on a shared screen or whiteboard within the Zoom meeting.

Note: To record a Zoom meeting, you must also join the meeting on your laptop. The Record feature cannot be accessed via the touch panel.

  1. From your Zoom meeting, click Record. Remote participants will be notified that the meeting is being recorded.
  2. Do one of the following:
    • Select Record on this computer to save the recording to your hard drive.
    • Click Record to the cloud. You will receive an email with a link to the recording once it's available for viewing.
