Bio

I completed my PhD in English at Cornell University in 2018 before going on to a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Paris 1-Panthéon Sorbonne. My scholarship at the intersection of rhetoric, race, and material culture has appeared in such venues as European Romantic Review, Eighteenth-Century Fiction, Romanticism on the Net, Nineteenth Century Literatures in Transition: the 1800s (Cambridge UP, June 2026), and the Bloomsbury Handbook of Global Romantic Literature and Culture (in press). My work cuts across time, place, and genre: I have published or have upcoming work on Romantic poetry, prose, and verse drama; on the 1808 novel The Woman of Colour and Hazel V. Carby’s Imperial Intimacies (2019); and on Abd-al Rahman al-Jabarti’s Chronicle of the French occupation of Egypt (1798). 

My book manuscript in progress is entitled “Poisoned Vestments”: Rhetoric, Race, and Material Culture in Britain and France, 1660-1820.

My latest article has just been published with Cambridge University Press: , June 2026.
