This faculty-designed professional development opportunity serves as a broad overview of how best to aid students at 糖心Vlog视频.
This session combines 30 minutes of asynchronous work in FocusU with a 90-minute, in-person presentation. Upon completing the training, faculty should be able to (1) articulate key findings about the CMU student mental health experience, (2) describe the vital role of faculty in supporting students, (3) identify the appropriate methods to assist students, and (4) describe the available support resources on campus.
Please note that this training is one of three options that faculty can complete to fulfill required training on student mental health and well-being. As part of CMU鈥檚 ongoing commitment to student mental health and well-being, all faculty members are expected to complete professional development focused on recognizing and supporting students in distress. Faculty may choose from the three training options listed on the Counseling & Psychological Services website. For more information, please refer to Provost Garrett and Dean Caselegno鈥檚 message to faculty.

Finding Funding with Pivot and GrantForward
Thursday, Oct. 1, 1 to 2 p.m., Virtual
Looking for new grant funding opportunities? This is a demonstration of how to find funding with two databases provided by CMU Libraries: Pivot and GrantForward. Participants will learn how to build effective search profiles; filter opportunities by discipline, career stage, and funding type; find potential collaborators; and set up automated alerts to stay ahead of new funding calls. Whether you're a graduate student searching for your first fellowship or faculty seeking your next major grant, this session will equip you with practical strategies to navigate both platforms efficiently and find funding opportunities tailored to your research. Participants are welcome to follow along with us.

CaPS Ph.D. Support Group
Tuesdays, 6 to 7 p.m., Virtual
The Ph.D. Support Group offers space to confidentially discuss the stressors and challenges of navigating relationships with advisors and peers, academic milestones, academic hazing, low motivation, struggles with self-confidence, and efforts to lead a more balanced life.
Group members typically share their experiences, offer and receive support and connect with others during group meetings. The group is able to accommodate no more than one student per program/lab. Feel free to email Kym Jordan Simmons, Ph.D., to schedule a 30-minute pre-group meeting to discuss the group and answer questions.
