As a new school year begins, educators may be returning to VEX IQ or preparing to use it for the first time. Carnegie Mellon Robotics Academy offers curriculum, professional development, and virtual robotics resources to help teachers, club leaders, and other educators build confidence and support students as they learn programming and robotics.

Our VEX IQ curriculum helps educators teach programming, computational thinking, sensing, decision making, testing, and problem solving through hands-on robotics activities.
The materials are designed to give students a structured progression through core robotics concepts while giving educators resources they can use in classrooms, clubs, after school programs, and robotics teams.
Students can build experience with concepts such as robot movement, sensors, loops, conditional statements, and autonomous behaviors while working through activities that encourage planning, testing, and iteration.

Build Your Confidence with VEX IQ Professional Development
Teaching robotics can be much easier when you have had a chance to work through the material yourself first.
Our VEX IQ professional development gives educators hands on experience building, programming, and troubleshooting VEX IQ robots. Participants also explore instructional strategies for helping students work through challenges, test their ideas, and develop solutions independently.
The training can be useful for educators who are completely new to VEX IQ as well as those who already use the platform and want a stronger understanding of the programming and curriculum.

Practice Programming with a Virtual Robot
VICE is Carnegie Mellon Robotics Academy’s platform agnostic virtual robotics environment. It gives students another way to practice core programming and robotics concepts, including movement, sensing, loops, decision making, and testing, with or without access to physical robotics hardware.
Virtual robotics can also give students more opportunities to experiment, test code, and work independently when access to physical robots is limited.
